    Hello TechNet,

I have a remote user who connects via VPN (OpenVPN) in order to access our internal resources. He is able to connect to our share drives, outlook, lync communicator but when trying to access our intranet site on IE, we'll say http://name.domain.com he gets redirected to a real domain on the internet ww35.name.domain.com. The connection to the VPN should bring him straight to our intranet but doesn't on IE, the strange thing is that on FireFox the intranet comes right up.

I haven't been able to reproduce it connected to our VPN. I came across the website accidently when disconnected from the VPN. I ran an IPTRACE and the results showed the host coming from Switzerland.

    Hi,

can't find http://ww35.name.domain.com . Please provide conical address. (ping ww35.name.domain.com)

domain.com is a well known domain registrant....

Users are i d i o t s.... sounds like they have mistyped the address and their default Search Provider has redirected them to domian.com...

Perhaps they have set Whois.com as their default Search Provider.

    http://ww35.name.domain.com was just an example.

The user connects with our VPN.

When using IE, attempt to navigate to http://gallery.artstor1.org user gets redirected to ww35.gallery.artstor1.org.

When using FireFox attempt to navigate to same URL, user successfully gets to intranet site.

    Hi,

Please enable following setting to check the result.

Internet Option -> Advanced -> Under Browsing category, check option for "Go to an intranet site for a single word entry in the Address bar"
