    I installed IE10 this morning; installation went fine and I rebooted.
    After the reboot I started up IE and the moment it tries to load the default webpage it crashes.
    I have run with extensions disabled; cleared all settings; reset settings;... nothing helps.

    And to make matters worse; it's not in the list of installed applications; so something must have gone wrong during the install but not notify.
    When I re-run the installer it says it can't run because there is a newer version on the system. :-(
    So I am basically blocked.

    I can't find any information on this issue and have tried a lot of things to recover but nothing helps.
    Looked with Process Explorer and Process Monitor to see what actions were executed before the crash but it doesn't give any clues.

    I managed to find a solution.

    When working with this machine on my home network I didn't experience this crash.
    Then I thought it might be related to the proxy settings.
    After some experimenting I found that the cause is the 'use automatic configuration script'.

    I
    have no idea why; and the installation is still broken; but it works. I
    can only hope that an update later on fixes all this mess.
