    Hi,

    Whenever an .exe file is attempted to open internet explorer (iexplorer.exe) opens instead and no other .exe files will open, if you try internet explorer opens and wants to download a file... we need a fix ASAP!!

    Please try the following suggestions and let me know the result.

    1. Reset Internet Explorer: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Reset-Internet-Explorer-settings
    2    . Run hijackthis: http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/
    3    . Use your security software to run a full scan and test the issue in Safe Mode.

    Hey guys,

    Fixed it, the person had actually got a download, and as it ran it did not know how to execute the .exe file and he had set it to internet explorer, so after that any .exe was opened by internet explorer which obviously failed, so we could not open anything even control panel or outlook etc. we found a .txt file with some registry changes and then imported them to the registry via winPE and that reset it and it was fine.
