    i'm experience issue pro with some of the most know cases but
    still want to solve it :
    while trying to open internet options under internet explorer tools
    i get a restrictions error msg
    i just installed update and restart my machine
    help needed

    If it's IE 8 :

    Check for Security Update KB2799329  - remove it .
    There is an Article that deals with compatibility issue , 
    Also talk about updates that You have to Install before that KB :

    the answer was quick and also helpfull

    i'm using ie 8 and the kb you mention just prevent me from geting into internet options by restrictions error msg ,

    well till now i'm pretty sure that is the solution for it  - because after remove it and read the compatibility FAQ  - i figured out that i have to install the latest updates before it 

    works fine for me
