Sync Service Possibilities

Hi there,
We are looking to sync our GAL between forests, and have been playing around with FIM Sync service, which appears to do the job fine. I understand that if you only use the FIM Sync Service, you negate the need for CALs.
My question is, what are the possibilities that you can achieve with the Sync Service only, for example, can you provision AD accounts? Is there a definitive article that explains the possibilities/limitations somewhere? I'm looking for some additional info that can be used to justify the hefty server licence price tag :)
Thanks.

Hi
As I have experience it's possible to do anything with the sync service, however you most develop most of the code yourself to be able to change any data and to get the functions you need to provision an account in AD or other services<o:p></o:p>

Hi,
For the GAL Synchronization process, there is a dedicated connector (GALSync Management Agent).
Global Address List Synchronization (GalSync) Resources
FIM provide you an end to end solution for Identity Management. The FIM Synchronization Service will manage the automation of the identities lifecycle (including provisioning and de-provisioning). There are some more components that will helps you manage your users/identities like FIM Portal or FIM CM.
