FIM 2010 installation prerequisites

Hi Team,
We are about to install FIM 2010 in a Virtual machine to perform GAL sync with other untrusted forest.
Do i really need to install sharepoint as a prerequisite for FIM.
We are going to install both SQL & FIM in the same machine.
Please guide me with the installation steps & best practices article.

Hi Ahmed,
The best place to start is by going through the deployment guide -> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj134310(v=ws.10). In particular the deploying FIM section would be of most help in relation to software/hardware requirements -> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh332710(v=ws.10)
Sharepoint is a pre-requisite if you are implementing the FIM Portal, however this is not the full sharepoint product it is Sharepoint 2010 foundation (FIM 2010 R2) or Windows Sharepoint Services (FIM 2010).
