How do you get resource counts into navigation bar resource display names?
I have seen screenshots of the FIM 2010 homepage where there are counters in the display names on the navigation bar i.e. "Approve Requests (4)".
The out of the box configuration for FIM 2010 RC1 has no count values showing, but the "Approve Requests" navigation bar resource has an xpath query in its "Resource Count" attribute.
How do you get this count from the "Resource Count" attribute (system name "CountXPath') to appear in the display name?
I've tried adding [//Target/CountXPath] in the Display Name value, but it isn't being processed.

- This feature is currently broken in RC1 and from RC1 forward will be not supported out of the box. However, if you plug the xpath query back in Approve Requests search scope again after Update 2 (not yet released), it should start to work again. You will get a penalty of 2 seconds on home page load when you add in this query. In fact for each nav bar count query you add in, it would be 2 second delay. For performance reason, we decided to not enable it out of box in Update 2.

- Trevor,
Microsoft is currently releasing updates for RC1 as we speak. You can find Update 1 on Connect, as detailed in this post:
Forefront Identity Manager 2010 RC1 Update 1 available at Connect
Or you can wait for it to become available through Microsoft Update. It's Microsoft's attention to RC updates and, once shipped, production updates through Microsoft Update, which will be a very nice bonus! :)
As for the full release of FIM 2010, as far as I know, the scheduled RTM is still for Q1 2010.
Cheers,
Marc

- That's good to know, Elisa. I can see why you disabled that out of the box. When you say "not supported" you mean it won't be configured that way out of the box, but if someone decides the perf penaltyis worth it then they can do it and it is supported (as long as they don't complain about perf)?
David Lundell www.ilmBestPractices.com Oh, I wont waste any more time trying to get that to work then ;0)
You mention "Update 2". Is this a update to RC1 or a new release candidate? When?
If so does this mean a delay in the full release of FIM 2010 (currently March 2010)
