Unanswered FIM Management Agent sync error

    Hi.

I am configuring basic FIM environment with FIM 2010 R2 version. I have uploaded AD users from AD to FIM and that works correctly. I did create a new sync rule for inbound/outbound sync to sync existing FIM users with AD (the ones that were just uploaded) and I cannot get it to work. I get following error and XML-preview information

    -<error type="sync-rule-inbound-flow-rules-invalid" code="0x8023055b"> <diagnosis>CS to MV to CS synchronization failed 0x8023055b: [d20425df-7722-4dd9-ab6c-6ebbbf320d9e]</diagnosis> </error>

Also in Event logs I have

The server encountered an unexpected error in the synchronization engine:

    Forefront Identity Manager 4.1.2273.0"

However, I can run full import / full sync with AD Management Agent without erros as well as full export with FIM MA.

Any tips would be highly appreciated!

What kind of sync are you running, a full sync on the FIM MA?

If you made any changes to the attributes in the portal, make sure you do a schema refresh on the FIM MA.

If you grab one of the FIM MA connectors that is throwing the error during a sync, try viewing the properties and then Preview a sync on that connector.  That may give you a better idea about where the problem is.

    Hi i had same problem.

I have tried to recreate the Sync Rule => still the same error.

Finally I had to export and import the AD Management Agent and recreate the Sync Rule. Afterward it was fixed.

    Hi,

I am in a similar situation with Forefront Identity Manager 4.1.2273.0

It appears as if the AD MA is currupt, cant bring in a sync rule get the BAIL as above.

BR dj, after you did the export and import did the issue ever reoccur

    Thanks

Based on the error message, are you trying to modify unicodePwd in a normal sync rule (i.e., outside of provisioning)?  I haven't tried that but would not expect it to work generally.
