Hello All,
We are in process of installing R2 in our environment.
1) We successfully updated the version to R2 in our test environment without any errors.
2) Now we are trying to upgrade - preproduction to R2.
FIM Service Successfully installed, FIM Portal Successfully upgraded (SP2010 Foundation also completed).
All Components are on different servers.
Issue : We are not able to complete the FIM Sync upgrade. Its been 24 hours the database is still getting updated.
I have been monitoring the setup, and its stuck at
Converting representation of references.
The progress bar was moving for sometime now its stuck at one point which its not at all moving from last few hours.
In eventviewer every 15mins I see the error message :
The service was unable to start because the version of the database does not match the version of the product.
Note : Its 20 GB of Sync Backup, SQL Server is accessible, SQL Database is in SIMPLE mode.
mms_server_configuration has the following values
The Fixed Schema Version of FIMSync DB is 316 and Server Configuration Version Number is 266
OS : Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard - SP1
If anybody can give some expert comments, I would really appreciate.

There have been some significant changes from RTM to R2 on how the Connector Space information is stored internally. During an upgrade all existing object in all connector Spaces need to be converted to this new structure - I pretty sure that this is whats going on. It seems you have a huge Sync DB and I'm therefore pretty sure that you're in for a long wait. I did this one time with a 600K object sync db and it was hours to convert.
So let it run for a while; I cant tell how long it'll take, though.
