unrecognized user error 3003

  hello. thanks for time and efforts.

  i am installing the FIM 2010R2 in a lab environment.  And i really dont have a very good grasp about it yet.  I went thru the technet articles where they had all the steps required for the environment.  I have finished the lab.  However when a user tries get to the self service password registration site ... they get an error.  

  "the current user account is not recognized by FIM.  Please contact your helpdesk or system admin. Error 3003."

  the weird thing is that i can register my domain admin account that i used to setup the lab environment.  

  Also the user that i try to register was created via Step 6 of the technet article "Perform SSPR Prequisite Tasks".    And I can see him in the FIM users.

  My domain admin account shows up as well and this is the only account that works.  However the container is pointed to the PasswordResetUsers OU where only test user John Smith exists.

  If anyone can shed some light or point me in a direction.  I would be most grateful.
