    Hello,

May be this will be a silly question but... I want to ask you guys, if there is any chance that in SCOM R2 is built in Nagios connector (way from SCOM to Nagios) ? I`m not SCOM guru and have not found any information about Nagios connector built in SCOM R2, so I`m asking you :)
And reason why I`m asking ? My boss stated that he was seen at Teched, so I`m asking if this is true, because I could not find anythig about this on web, or if it was only for this event and SCOM does not come with build in connectors and you have to buy them (or is there any free connectors for Nagios? ).
We are thinking about update to R2 if there would be Nagios connector....

Thank You and sorry for bad English ;)

There is not a specific connector from SCOM 2007 R2 to Nagios but we do have a Universal connector from SCOM 2007 R2 to whatever.

The SCOM 2007 R2 end is done for you so there is no need to learn the SCOM API's. The whatever could easily be Nagious, you just have to do a little customization on the Nagious end to get it to work. If you know Nagious and Perl, Powershell, python or any other scripting language you can get the Universal connector running faily quickly.

There is a whitepaper included with the RC download that explains how to use and configure the Universal connector with Powershell examples that can be found here:

    http://connect.microsoft.com

It’s under the ‘System Center (Operations Manager, Service Manager & Essentials)’ connection.

Here is the direct link but it will require you to join the connection first. It's bundled with all the connectors so there is only one download.

    Regards,

Link above is for the beta release which does not have the Universal whitepaper in it. Below is the link to the RC release.

Thank you for your quick response Steve.

As I found out that our company does not have connect, so I was unable to view SCOM 2007 R2 RC which has Universal whitepaper in it :( But we have MVLS. Is there any chance, that this whitepaper for universal connector shows up there ?

    Thank you.

Sorry for my "newbie" questions, this was my first contact with http://connect.microsoft.com .  I have already found where and how to download the right files.

Thanks Steve for push me out :)

    Hi!

I am the author of the connector and owner of the linked site. So if anyone needs any help with it (or an english translation :-) ) then just post a request.

    Good luck with it

Hi Markus and thanks for your efforts, with my dutch and german background i can understand the odd word and understand what is being said i think but i am concerned that i may need an english version if possible.

we have a small nagios setup of about 300 machines with an enterprise console being Tivoli TEC.

Im wondering if using what you have put together to get alerts into scom would allow the scom 2 tec connector to communicate the information to to our operations team in TEC, or with your experience with Nagios do you have any suggestions on how to integrate with TEC?
