Server 2003 Reverse DNS lookup IPv6
-
Tuesday, March 19, 2013 4:59 PMI have a primary 2008 server running the main DNS. And i also have a 2003 server running a secondary DNS. Am i able to configure a reverse IPv6 lookup in the 2003 DNS? And how would i go about doing that because everytime i go to do it it errors out at the end when i configure it? I am running windows SP2 and it is up-to-date with microsoft.

Tuesday, March 19, 2013 6:29 PMDoubtful. Windows Server 2003 never really fully supported IPv6 in production and to my knowledge none of its roles, like DNS, did either. What's included is more or less an abandoned effort -- they completely redesigned the protocol stack for Server 2008/Vista to support IPv6.

Tuesday, March 19, 2013 6:37 PMOkay im just setting a test infrastructure and wondering were i want to layout my DNS and AD boxes for a project. But i was doubting that Microsoft hasn't made 2003 compatible with IPv6 fully through DNS.
