Activation key for Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise/Standard

I purchased Windows 2008 with software Assurance and was issued an activation key.
I used Software Assurance to download and install (upgrade) 2008 to 2008 R2
When I enter my 2008 key to activate 2008 R2, it says key is not acceptable. How do I get new activation key?
