I've read several pages about Windows 7 activation. But the scenarios for KMS are most with different networks for Windows productive and Windows deployment lab networks. We don't have different networks and we haven't planned some yet. So if I set up a KMS host and automate the activation my Windows 7 deployment testing computers will (may) also be activated. But some times I have to re-install windows for testing the distribution process so it is not really necessary to activate them immediately.
I can't find any information about how often a computer with Windows 7 could be activated, or if there is a setting where I can configure which machines should not be activated.
Another method might be using MAKs but I think this not the best choice for our network.
Any ideas or links to Microsoft pages?
Regards, Nils.

Hello der Nils, KMS doesn't do compliance checking, it only maintains a count. That count is not tied to your agreement number and is only at max is twice the requirement for the KMS clients that are being activated. So for Windows 7 the requirement is 25 to activate, so the count will not be greater than 50, as more machines activate, the first machines on the list of machines is dropped of the count list. It doesn't maintain a total number of machines that contact it. It simply sends back the count to the KMS machines that it supports. Thanks,
Darrell Gorter

sorry, maybe I don't understand you. My question is: how often could one specific computer be activated if I use KMS?
We have enought computer for using KMS, that is not the problem. And I know that the activation for Windows 7 will only be done if at least 25 computers are waiting for activiation.
It would be nice to find this information in a Microsoft Technet note.
Hello der nils, As many times as needed. There is no total count. KMS doesn't track that. Thanks,
Darrell Gorter

thank you. This is the information I've looked for on many microsoft pages, but hadn't found. I was confused about this because they say a KMS host could only be reactivaed up to ten times. But nothing is said about Windows clients.
