I'm not sure if this was the right place to post this, but it doesn't really fit in to any category.

I have upgraded a new PC, running a core2 Duo 6600 @ 2.40GHz with 2GB RAM, from XP Pro SP2 to Vista Business and boot time is taking up to 4 minutes.

Before installing Vista, the PC had come straight out of the box, had nothing installed on it and XP was starting within 30-60secs.

    Can anyone please help??

If you go to the problems and reports solutions thing, you can see what programs might be running during startu that are not compatable with Vista, thereby slowing your startup times. Simply disable these are start-up programs and turn them on individually as needed.

HI, You can use the MSCONFIG to check the above problem.

For example, disable all the startup program and enable them one by one to find out which is the problem source.

I disabled all startup programs and it still took 4mins to boot.

I enabled each program one by one, but the boot time stayed the same, 4 mins.

I did this while connected to our network and again not connected to the network and it didn't make any difference.

    Any more suggestions?

    Thanks

Um, If I were you, I will try to use another partition or another HD to install Vista to see whether the problem exist.

If the problem does not exist, you can prove it's the problem which come from Upgrade of the XP.

from what I can tell in the Vista commercial release, the delayed times of booting up and shutting down are only the first few times...

at this point, for any normal startup and shutdown my computer does, it's about a 30 second process for each

The slow startup maybe due to the indexing process of Vista.
