I know this is the wrong place to ask this, but there isn't an XP forum now. Under XP Pro, if you delete a user profile, is there any way to recover the .pst files that were stored there?

You need a software for recovering deleted files and folders. Best of all acording to my experiences is Easy Recovery Pro

Thanks for the information. I was able to retrieve the .pst files, but not all of them had data in them. I suspect they had already been overwritten. I will have ammo next time though!!

The .pst file which you have recovered might be corrupt. Don’t jump into a conclusion that the emails might be overwritten without testing the .pst files further. You can very well get back the email messages inside the .pst file by repairing the .pst file using a right tool.
You can use PST Repair Software to repair such corrupted .pst files.

Friday, July 02, 2010 4:30 PMA PST is the data file used to store all your messages, calendar events, and other items in Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft software.PST files are extremely important for your mails.PST store the 32 bit CRC32 hash value of the password entered by the user. When a PST file is opened using any version of Outlook it’ll check the hash value
stored in it. If this hash value is 0 the file will be opened without any password requirements.
The problem with CRC32 hash is the fact that a lot of strings can have the same CRC32 hash. This means for a single 32 bit hash value there will be a lot of
different but correct passwords!
