Could you please confirm (and hopefully explain) what I just observed:
In Windows XP, if I modify the routing table using ROUTE ADD, then reboot - the default routing table is restored. Thus, even if I created a problem that disconnects the network, Windows XP recovers after a restart.
In Vista, on the other hand, I noticed that it doesn't recover after restart, but rather boots to the same exact routing table that was before shutdown/restart. Thus, I need to fix the routing table manually, using ROUTE ADD/REMOVE (is there another way to accomplish this?).
Is this by design? If so, could you explain the rational behind this? A pointer to an article summarizing the differences between XP and Vista in that regard would be appreciated.
