I am running Windows Vista Ultimate SP 1 (32-bit) on a Dell Studio Hybrid 140G.  I receive the notification that an important update is available: Windows Vista Service Pack 3 (KB948465).  I selected to install the update and everything seems to work fine.  It then prompts me to restart my computer.  After the user gets logged out, the screen shows 3 phases of installation.

However, upon reaching 100% of phase 3, it changes to a message stating that Windows update did not install successfully and that changes are being reverted.  After a few hours, the system returns to its previous state, with Windows Update still giving the notification that the update is available.

I looked at the update history, and it lists Windows Vista Service Pack 3 (KB948465) as "failed".  The update error code is 800707D1.

I searched the Microsoft website but was unable to find any information or a solution for this error.  Please advise.
