Questioncomputer is running very slow

    My computer has slowed down tremendously... I have vista. I have performed a disk clean up, defrag, and just went to event viewer. There was a message that there was a possible serious performance issue, event id is 400. Could this be the problem? What do I need to do? Really not a computer person. Thanks for any help/advise anyone can give.
