    Hi all,

I have had my lappy since March of 2008.  It's an ACER Aspire 5100.  When I first got the comp, every time it would update, it would drop a driver.  This was obviously annoying, but easily solved.  Then it loaded SP1 (the only time it "successfully" loaded).  It managed to forget my keyboard, touchpad, and USB drivers.  Needless to say, I had to re-install Vista from scratch and try and recover my files.

Since this reinstallation, I have no been able to get SP1 to load.  I have gotten so fed up with it that I decided to buy the "Upgrade" to Windows 7.  It will not load due to SP1 not being there.  I have been trying to get SP1 to load, again, and have tried the following threads, based on error codes recieved.

I have followed the steps in each of these and have not had any success.  I sent an email to microsoft support and was told to expect a reply within one business day, still no reply.  If I can't solve this by Friday, I will be demanding a refund for my purchase of Win7 (online), and will be actively looking for a deal on a shiney new MacBook Pro.
