I recently purchased many Crucial M4 SSDs and I have Vista SP2 running on all of them. It works very, very well, however I am concerned about the longterm use of them as they are only 128GB, and 50% of the drive is being used.
Crucial support informed me that Vista's SP2 introduced TRIM support, however, I cannot find any evidence to this effect from Microsoft. The general concensus is that only Windows 7 supports TRIM, and I simply cannot use that OS because it is a catastrophe, but that's a matter for another day (http://tinyurl.com/windows7disaster).
Could someone with knowledge on this topic please confirm definitively whether Vista's SP2 introduces and supports the TRIM operations necessary to maintain an SSD over time? Please indicate your source of this information, such as a TechNet article or something.
Thank you very, very much.

Windows 7 supports the TRIM command natively; earlier Windows versions don’t and won't. You may wish to review this article.
