Ok, I'm no computer expert so please bear with me, and if anyone has some advice, please keep it simple!!
A 'worm' found its way onto my laptop and disabled loads of things, I was advised to start up in safe mode and run a malwarebyte scan which detected and removed 11 trojans.
Everything seemed ok when I restarted, but I had to uninstall, then reinstall my Microsoft Security Essentials which seems to be running ok but I cannot open my Windows Firewall to see if it is working ok (which suggests to me that it isn't). When I click on it I get a message saying 'due to an unidentified problem, settings cannot be displayed'.
Any ideas? kinda worried my laptop is no longer safe, or that the Worm or Trojan's have damaged my system?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi,
I think the problem is that the Windows Firewall cannot be displayed properly after being attacked by virus and reinstalling Microsoft Security Essentials.
It is possible that the Windows Firewall component was damaged by virus or the Firewall is interfered by MSE.
I suggest we also seek help in the MSE support forum:

Monday, October 08, 2012 5:00 PMHi Carey, I have looked at the info you suggested but to be honest, it doesn't make sense to me. I have asked the question again in the MSE forum but if I can't figure it out I guess I will need to find the cash to get someone who knows what they are doing to look at it! Thanks for your reply.
