the missing icon for the MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S

The problem is that my DVD player works, but when I try to install something, watch a movie, or rip music to my computer, nothing happens except I can hear the DVD or CD running around in my computer. I know that my DVD player is in working order; it's just that Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device (code 41). Okay, I've had this problem fixed before at a computer store. All he did was a few steps to fix it, and it worked; which means that the icon was there where it was suppose to be after he did these steps and restarted my computer. All it took was a couple of minutes to do it. What I need is a step by step list of how to enable the DVD-RAM on my computer.
Thank you,
Resa

I did what you said to do. It worked. The icon is back where it belongs. Thank you so much.
