Arial font is invalid

The results of testing arial.ttf with FontValidator says that Arial 3.00, which is distributed with Windows XP, is invalid, and WEFT crashes on it while building the initial font database.
This problem is not limited to Arial but it is most painful with Arial because this font is used by the system UI and it cannot be uninstalled (AFAIK).
