Emachinen and XP / SP3 Installation problems

My daughter was given an eMachines, Inc. Imperial Revision 0.90 , second hand and it had many problems , so I thought I would wipe the hard drive and install a copy of XP Home edition , which I did and it seemed to have installed correctly.
I also installed SP3.
However when I first booted up and Windows started the display was terrible and when I check in the display setting the screen resolution was very low and the colour quality was low-4. I tried to adjust these settings, but was unable too and also the slider bar wouldn’t move and I didn’t have any other options.
I have tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling them and nothing seems to work. The display is a mess and I though I would try to figure out what video /graphic card was installed, so I could go to the manufacturers site and perhaps down load the correct drivers, but I couldn’t work out what card was installed.
The machine has a license code on the back, so I was wondering if I needed to locate the setup disks for an emachine and if so, where would I get these?
There’s nothing on the computer that’s I need, so I am open to all and any suggestions on how to sort this problem out.
Also, is there a program that can identify what the specs of my computer are and suggest what drivers/updates I need to install and where I may find these.
Thanks for all your help in advance.

Unlikely that this issue is caused by SP3. Try the manufacturer tech support or this forum.
Or... do your daughter a favor, get her Win8 !

Hi Pa ,
Thanks for getting back to me and srry for the delay in responding , been away fro a few days.
I would be willing to upgrade my daughters computer to Windows 8 , but would windows 8 work on an Emachine or would I need to upgrade the machine before I can buy and insall windows 8?
I am still trying to resolve the issues with the display/graphics, have tried everything and nothing seems to help.
Kind regards

Hi Carey ,
Thanks for getting back to me and srry for the delay in responding , been away fro a few days.
I have checked the links you suggested and nothiong seems to work. I have some additional information about the computer and I wonder if this might help.
The computer is an Emachine Imperial Revision 0.90
main circuit board = Trigem Computers Inc. Imperial 1.08a
Bois = Pheonix 600 3/19/2003
Also I use the monitor in question on this computer and it works absolutley fine, but when I connect it to the other computer I get a message about very low screen resolution and dispay settings. It won't let me adjust this settings in display settings and I have tried and tried again to rool back drivers, uninstall, and remove them and nothing seems to help.
I wouls be very grateful for any further advise or help.
Kind regards

The resolution problem is a result of not having the video driver for your graphics chip/card. Somehow you will have to identify the video chip/card and download the driver for it. Windows only has a minimally functional driver as part of the operating installation. You need the manufacturer's video driver to be able to adjust the resolution.Hi Carey ,

Hi Carey ,
And any others whom have helped with this issue.
You were right , i needed to find the correct drivers from the manufacturers site and at first this proved almost impossible. A friend recommended a driver program called Driver Reviver and I ran this and it located the correct drivers straight away and now everything is up-to-date and my problems have been resolved.
I'm never comfortable running these kind of programs, but as this one done as I requested I'm more than happy with the results.
Tahnks all
