.net framework update problems

The files below will not install on my XP SP3 machine.
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB2572073)
Security Update for .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB2518864)Any suggestions?

Try to download and install NDP20SP2-KB2572073-x86.exe if fails.

Any error message displayed?

Mr. Bruno,
Thank you very much for your help. It was interesting to note that those files were not able to be automatically installed; that is, I had to accept MS's terms before the installation could take place. Either way, that problem is solved.
Still having a problem with IE 8. When I run Windows Update and click on Express, after a minute or two the window says:
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem. For self-help options:
For assisted support options:
- Microsoft Online Assisted Support (no-cost for Windows Update issues)
I also sometimes can't get Microsoft Security Essentials to update manually and get an error message.
And, sometimes the computer won't shut down.
Any thoughts?
