I am planning to develop a utility that will collect inventory and report about the pre-requistes for an application we will be deploying across different OSes. For example application XYZ will be deployed in WIndows VIsta, WIndows 7 and WIndows 8, we have already prepared a computability H/w and S/w matrix that we will use to map it to the specific OSes. The tool we plan to develop should look for all the dependency needed in the environment and also check whether the underlying desktop meets the criteria. Is this possible with MAP toolkit if so, please let me know whether the approach is documented for this scanerio any code samples also will help.

you did not state what dependencies you are looking for.
But in short, yes. install it and try it. there are labs too if you to to the MAPS homepage.

Thank you for the prompt reply, the dependencies are hardware and software related. We do have a matrix defined which gives the user pre-requistes and what should be available before installation. But at times certain users dont follow that and we end up debugging the problem. So what we thought is a toolkit (automated) will determine before hand whether the installation will be successful in the user machine. If not what are the remedies needed to be done. Sometimes we also need to find telemetry data after installation to give the future updates on where the installation had issues.
I hope I explained it better please let me know if any samples are available for this scanerio.
Thank you once again for your help

well I assume all your computers have hardware and software so I think you are OK and your pre-requisits are met :) You are not sounding very techie.
Unless you post your requirements it is impossible for someone to answer.
Install the app and try the labs. The download links are on the MAPS home page.
It Should not take you more than 1/2 a day, it is pretty easy to follow for even a non-tech. Also reading the posts in this forum will help. You are likely going to need a bit of SQL knowledge (not much)
