Answered Error on exporting an Image

I'm trying to export an image from my WDS server so I can add it to my MDT server.

When start the export command I get the following error.

"A device attached to the system is not functioning"

I have tried to export the image to other drives on that server and to the MDT server but I get the same error message.  So I tried imaging it with MDT from the WDS server and another error pops during the OS install phase.   "failuer (5624).   I have checked the form here and this error seems to be and issue that hasn't been resolved as far as I can tell.

    Any input would be helpfull.

    thanks

It could be corruption with that Image.

Can you add a test boot image from MDT (Boot Folder in Deployment Share) to WDS and export it?

Not sure in which situations you really need to export WIM from WDS and put that in MDT. It has always been the other way around for me - MDT ---> WDS.

I can imagine if you started out with a custom image you deploy using WDS, and then start to implement MDT that you want to deploy that image using MDT instead until you have an automated build task sequence for the reference image.

Just for verification, is this an install image you're trying to export right?

There is another method I can think of in order to get that image "exported", however this is rather error-prone.

If the image is not corrupted in any way, you should be able to deploy the image using WDS. Once deployed, then reboot immediately boot into WinPE again, do not let it boot from the disk; then re-capture the image using ImageX and then import the newly created .wim file into MDT.

I find that the image on the WDS server is not deployable.

So I guessing that the image is corrupted.  But the good news is that the orginal computer that was used to create the master image is here and I copied up the wim file from the C drive of that computer.  I was able to image another computer with that wim file using MDT

    thanks for guys input
