Hi,
Wondering if someone can help, to clear up some confusion.
im using MDT 2012 update 1 and im deploying windows xp sp3 and Windows 7 sp1.
at the moment im using Litetouch, basically i bootup from a cd and it connects to the distribution point.
what i would like to do is create a OFFLINE MEDIA a DVD or a USB stick. my question is, is the Customsettings.ini and Bootstrap.ini in the CONTROL folder same for the Offline Media ?
im trying to Create a OEM pre load to send off to a vendor so they can clone the HDD.
this needs to be automated process where the offline media copies the data to the hard disk and turns off and the next time it is switched on the user will be presented with the option of selecting the TS.
any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi,
when you create an offline media, you have access to a different customsettings.ini dedicated for that media. Right click the media in the workbench and select properties, you should have a RULES tab displaying the content of this dedicated CS.INI. There is also a dedicated bootstrap.ini (since you don't need to connect to a DS, it will be almost empty) but I'm not sure if you can access it through the workbench of if you need to edit it with notepad

Is there any way to tell the workbench that it should automatically use the customsettings.ini and bootstrap.ini from the deploymentshare for the media, too?
I often forget to replace them manually and that is kind of disturbing.
If there's not I'll just integrate that in my copy script, but I feel like I'm overlooking something. -

ive customised the cs.ini for it to automatically boot into OEM pre load in my Offline Media but when i browse into my usb stick into Control folder the customsettings.ini file that i assumed would be for the DShare has been updated to the one that was meant to use for the Offline Media. so how does mdt know which ones to use and where is it located if theres two cs.ini one for DS and one for offline media. Does that make any sense, or have i just confused it more ?

Tuesday, September 25, 2012 2:46 PMso, let's say you have a DS located at C:\deploymentshare$, the CS.ini for this DS it located at C:\deploymentshare\control\Customsettings.ini
now, if you create a media, the workbench will ask you where you want to put it, let's say you put it in C:\MDTMedia, then a new CS.ini will be created and located at C:\MDTMedia\Content\Control\Customsettings.iniDavid Sebban | Nelite North America | My Blog | Follow me on twitter : @davidsebban

OK, but lets say you create a OEM TS as well as a windows 7 Deployment TS, and you create a Media. so when you run the Media and select the OEM it will use the cs.ini from e.g C:\MDTMedia\Content\Control\Customsettings.ini basically coping the media to the HDD. so next time you boot the computer from the HDD which has copied over the image. Where does it get its cs.ini from ? if you want to select Windows 7 ts.

Friday, September 28, 2012 1:55 PMThe media content is copied on the HDD when you perform an OEM TS, therefore, you'll have the CS.ini from your media.
