Search problems. Have to type many letters from the name to find users.

We have a big installation with 20.000 Lync users. Our AD is made with the format Lastname, Firstname in display name (the German way) but most of our users is use to firstname, lastname. So when they search for people in Lync they type firstname and starts typing lastname. If people search by lastname firstname then everything works fine, but not for firstname and then starting typing letters from lastname (don't say change AD as that is a political decision).
Here is a example. If I type "Jan" I see a lot of users, if I type "jan d" I see none and if I then type "jan di" I see the user I was looking for. Why don't I see any users when I type "jan d"?
Here is another: If I type "Jan h" I see none, if I type "Jan han" I see one user but not the one I am looking for. If I type "Jan hans" I see none, If I type "Jan Hanse" I find my user Jan Hansen. If I type "hansen j" I find my user.
I know about this thing where Lync client only pick up the first 50 users from the list and then the client filter out all users without SIP address and this may somehow be the reason for this behavior. Most users are SIP enabled but we also have admin accounts and other accounts.
So how does Lync search?
are there any difference if the ad is firstname, lastname or lastname, firstname?
and how can I solve my problem?

Hi,
It looks like the parameter SearchPrefixFlags of Set-CsClientPolicy can control the attribute of users can be searched. You can have a test to change its value to 1111111. For detail about it please read the following article:
