hi,
i believe you are refering AV scanner with Antivirus scanner.
Lync server provides the functionality with you which you can block specifc file extensions. although it depends on the antivirus that either it scans the file after download or it scans on the way when it receives the file on the IM it self.
what is the meaning IPC can you please explain.

Suppose you are transferring files using IM or take itself IM. To scan the files when these are transferred b/w clients through lync server how you will integrate av scanners with lync server ? is there any hooks on lync server which we can use to integrate my own scanners for scanning IM and files ? how traffic will flow b/w av scanners and lync server that's what i want ? if you know please provide details ..Thanks in advance

Hi ,
As per my understanding, you can't scan lync file or content transfer using an external AV product. Please note that Lync communication is fully encrypted. Forefront protection for lync isn't available yet , you may get this option using forefront once it is available.
Thanks

Have a look at FSOCS architecture

i am unable to figure out how ForefrontRTCProxy hands off data to FSOCScanner and takes back ? may be it is some kind of ipc b/w these two.

We had forefront AV protection for OCS R1 and R2.
As I mentioned above, forefront protection for lync isn't released yet. It will be available in near future.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Hi,there,
Agree with Saleesh.I also suggest you to monitor the Microsoft Magazine website for Forefront with the following link

Also you can keep eyes on Lync security guide for the new updates.
