Any way around the problem of calling Subsriber access (voicemail) from a common area phone for a lync user to check their voicemail?

Currently getting the "the user mailbox is currently unavailable, please try again later" message since the common area phone is just a contact and isn't UM enabled.

    Thanks!

Why would a Common Area phone require a voice mailbox?
Maybe you have not the right scenario for Common Area Phones.
You may want to use a normal user?

    Hi,ionistech,

I am afraid you can not have voice mail function since it's a contact, however if you really want voicemail and had an existing voice mailbox, maybe you can try to use sefautil to set that for this contact object.

Here are some reference for you

I'm not trying to get the common area phone to have a UM enabled voicemail box.  I just needed the user that is calling FROM the common area phone to be able to get through to the subscriber access number.  Anyway, the awesome folks at Microsoft Lync support figured out the issue!  :-)

We just had to go into ADSIedit and edit the legacyExchangeDN Attribute of the common area phones and make sure it had a value (where previously there was no value).  For example:

    /o=contoso/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=Boardroom
