Must preface this by having it kept in mind that I have installed Office & configured Outlook many times, pre-2010. This is only mentioned to say that I know what to expect ... HA!

For a couple of days have had Office 2010 x86 in use. Both clean install and upgrade installations have been done, + stand-alone & side-by-side, all flawlessly/successfully.

I have just Removed the x86 from Windows 7 x64 & have just installed Office 2010 x64 on Windows 7 x64. A clean install. Seemingly, @ this point, also, flawlessly/successfully. That's fine.

Oh, I suggested maybe Off2010 x86 was (Recommended) because Outlook Connector was 32-bit only; was 1 reason I was slow about the 64-bit cus thought wouldn't/couldn't get the Hotmail account but,... WRONG! Saying Outlook Connector needed updating it (the Install) tossed up an Outlook Connector (x64) Wizard !!!!

Which brings me to the really freaky part...

This has never been the case with previous Outlooks or Office...

Not once, in any of these clean, or even the upgrade, installs did Outlook need to be configured!! Never inputting info & creating/configuring accountS... every damn, initial time I went to Outlook it was MINE!! Just bloody there, all perfectly intact, I did nothing! And I have 2 accounts, biz & personal; Hotmail has the biz account added so Outlook has Biz acc't folders & Hotmail Acc't w/ mine & the Biz ... everything was in place!! Never touched Tools/Accounts/Options. NO IMPORTING of anything!! I had to do nothing.

Not even the Contacts disturbed!!

I swear that is not the past prescident. I swear even if you reset the accounts the contacts would disappear. (PSTs)
W/ this, nothing had moved, nothing! Not Contact, not anything.

Maybe I fell on my head but, there's no bump & I don't remember falling...

Date Picker not working in Access 2010 on Form View

I am designing a form but cannot get the date picker (little calendar date picker) to work on form view. The date picker appears and works fine in the datasheet view, but not on form view. Under Form View, the little calendar icon does appear but when you click on the little icon, the large calendar does not appear nor is there the opportunity to choose a date. . I understand the "Calendar Control" is gone (based on http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179181(office.14).aspx ). So, how do you get a date picker to work on form view in 2010?

Bug: Outlook 2010 and Live Meeting (Conferencing Add In)

Hey There,

I wonder if anyone else has experienced problems with the Live Messenger Add-In for Outlook (officially called "Conferencing Add-In"). Basically, I have set up my account and configured everything fine. So when I create a new Meeting Request, I do get the button "Add Live Meeting" and clicking on it actually seems to setup a meeting and add the link to the e-mail. BUT - the link in the mail is empty. There is no URL behind the apparent link...

I have been able to reproduce the error on 3 different PCs with 3 different Live Meeting accounts. Anyone else has seen that?

I do realize that this is for the technical preview and that the beta boards are coming soon, but I thought it best to report this sooner than later.

I am running Win 7 Gold x64 and had installed Office 2010 Professional Plus x64 beta. I was running the technical release. I uninstalled the technical release and made sure I purged all the old folders first. Everytime I have installed the beta and tried to open outlook, I got the error: "cannot start outlook. cannot open the outlook window". I tried older outlook solutions like outlook.exe /resetnavpane with out any luck. I tried opening with a new profile without any luck.

The only thing that did work was "Run this program as an administrator" being checked off. However when I do this it looks like when I open Outlook 2010, it goes through the motions like it's setting it up for the first time, and then I get a windows 7 security popup to see if I really want to open this file up.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled again as well as a repair and I still have this issue.

Any solutions to resolve this issue would be great. I will be happy to post any requested information.

P.S. I have filled out a frown report. As soon as the Office 2010 beta site is fully up I will make bug report

Hi,
I try to use the social network feature.
I have sharepoint 2010 installed on a server, I click the + button to create a new social network account
I select sharepoint
Then I type the url of the root site http://mysharepointserver with the login / password.
but this doesn'T works, the system prompt me to add the account I ust select, but there is an error.
So does my URL is good? or do I have to point anywhere else in my infrastrucure?
Is there something special to setup in sharepoint?

so... how to implement and use this feature please? :)

All other Office 2010 Beta programs installed successfully including Outlook. Business Contact Manager starts install, advises it is installing SQL compact server 2008 and about halfway through requests reboot. Does this over and over. Anyone else having this issue?

I recently install Outlook 2010 and I'm using with Exchange (2007) account.

When I tried to send a email, let's say, 'Luis Guerrero<mail@mydomain.com>' Outlook 2010 try send like this '=SMTP:mail@mydomain.com' and the Exchange server return me back Undeliverable: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

The main problem is that Outlook change every mail address that I send, so I have to write email instead on put knowing name.

Has anyone this problem?

Suggestion for getting people to think Office 2010 is worth buying

I was stunned by the lack of business improvement in Office 2010. The biggest flaws in Office 2007 and Office 2003 continue with Office 2010.

If they wanted to improve Office they SHOULD have -
1. Made outlook open multiple e-mail accounts as full exchange -not an additional mailbox with some functionality or pop/imap with very limited functionality but two separate exchange profiles simultaneously from multiple exchange servers. I would love to just open two outlook profiles at the same time without having to run a virtual second session. I find it hard to believe people at MS don't have more than one email account as well -but then again MS didn't really think the Internet would take off either.

2. Full support for drop in jpg pictures in MS access - umm wasn't that functional with Office XP? Why take that out? Why should someone have to code to add pictures to a personal database? Might was well use oracle or a real database if you are going to have to use code. Adding Office XP photo editor is the work around but why not just add photo editor back into office if that is the solution? I understand it was innefficient and left a lot of white space - 8 years later you can't do anything to make it easier? Lately MS leaves a lot of the gui unfinished and just say code/use powershell scripts - it is more powerful! I'd be running Linux with no gui if I enjoyed using scripts. Is MS just going back to DOS because they won't finish writing software?

3. Offer the old menu bar for people (most of my clients) who don't want to learn the new menu bar. You can finally modify the ribbon to some extent in 2010 however my clients just want their old ribbon bar. Frankly I have no issue with the new menu bar but I'm one person and most of my clients don't like it so prefer to stick with office 2003. MS could make money selling the new version if they just offered the old menu as a choice with the new ribbon.

Is the beta still coming for the non-MSDN or the non-TECHNET testers ?

Greetings all. Glad to see MS post the Office 2010 beta for us Technet Plus folks...downloaded/installed it last night. Quite impressed with the performance and finish of the suite, especially for a beta. But, I have an issue...

A friend sent me a 700k jpeg attachment this morning--a logo, originally created in Photoshop CS4, exported as a jpeg. Note: she works for a well-known engineering firm, so no virus issues for certain. Anyway, I could not preview the file; and, when I saved it to a hard drive location, NONE of my graphics programs would open it-Photoshop CS4 said "could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found."

However, as soon as I uninstalled Office 2010, and re-installed Outlook 2007, the attachment previewed and opened just fine. So apparently, Outlook 2010 is doing something funky with attachment information. Where can I report this bug?

After three tries I got the 64bit Office 2010 installed and now MobileMe fails. No one at MS has an iPhone, eh? Couldn't put in a trick to fool MobileMe? Need more info or you already know...

Excel 2010 Printing too small issue

I know the Beta is coming this month...but of all the little stability issues in the Technical preview...the one that is driving me nuts is printing from excel. If their is any scaling needed to shrink down to one page...it just won't work. I can print at 100% or if I do any scaling..the entire worksheet is printed into a tiny corner of the page.

Any workarounds?

OL2010 Unable to read category name for categories not in master category list

When you haev an email that has a category that is not in the master category list, it shows up white (as in OL2007) however the text label also shows up white so you can't read it!

The install runs fine - then on completion, says there was an error, and to reboot. No other messages and after a reboot no Office installed.

(Windows 7 64bit, Office Beta 64bit)

I recently installed Office 2010 beta.When i tried outlook,i didnt like the color,look and feel of this build.I liked the technical preview build's look.
Particularly outlook's navigation pane and to-do bar now are dark grey coloured.
Any way to change the colours?look and feel?

i've installed office 2010 beta after uninstalling office technical preview.Everything works fine except outlook.i've configured outlook to my hotmail account before.Now when i open outlook,its telling me that msncon.dll missing.Then i found out that i uninstalled outlook connector which may be the reason for this.But old technical preview outlook connector is not installing with new office beta build?
What to do?i'm in hurry..i also need my mail,contacts,tasks to be preserved.

Hi All,

My Mailbox do only have 200MB storage

So I'd used Outlook 2007's auto-archive function to move mails to another PST file and set it to auto-run for everyday.

Now I installed Office 2010 to my test rig and connected the Outlook 2010 to my Exchange server 2003,
however I can't find any archive function in Outlook 2010, I do know there is a Mailbox-clean-up function, it's helpful but not the function that I need to.

Any suggestion?

How to move BCM 2007 to BCM 2010 Beta?
Using backup in BCM 2007 and then restore in BCM 2010 (on another PC) seems to migrate the database format but at the end the wizard says "Cannot restore the database because you are not the owner of the database"

And if exporting BCM 2007 to a .bcm file and importing in BCM 2010 I get an "Wrong file version" error.

I have never done this the right way. Even when I've installed Outlook on a new computer I never seem to move the Outlook PST files correctly.

First of all, I know where the files are stored, that is not an issue. C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\OFFICE\*.pst

Here is my issue, you just complete a clean installation of Office and now you want to launch Outlook. But Outlook thinks it is the first time it is being launched so it wants you to create email accounts. So I suspect as a result of that initial setup, it creates the Outlook.pst file.

At that point I usually interrupt the setup to copy my mail files into the folder I listed above. Then try to launch Outlook again. After I mess around for awhile I usually get it but Outlook usually renames the pst file from Outlook to Outlook1 or some higher number, depending how many times I've attempted.

So what is the correct way to move your pst data when you have a clean install?

I know this is not a O2010 problem, it has existed with me in prior versions.

I keep getting the error "You cannot install the 64-bit version of Office 2010 because you have 32-bit Office products installed. These 32-bit products are not supported with 64-bit installations: "

When I initially tried this install it was showing Office 2007, but I have uninstalled and rebooted. Now it just gives me the error and comes up blank and doesn't tell me what I need to uninstall.

Any suggestions?

Hi. HAs anyone been able to find a way to sync WinMo devices on Office 2010 TP using Windows Mobile Device Center? I am enjoying the TP very much and this may be the only reason why I uninstall it and go back to Office 2007. I need to be able to sync to my desktop at home.

For those not aware of this problem, when plugging in the device, outlook immediately states that you have no default mail client and cannot sync. Outlook is definitely my default mail client and is specified so. Clicking on mailto: email links brings up Outlook just fine. I think this is similar to when Office 2007 was launched and the new ActiveSync.

Any help is much appreciated.

I installed Office 2010 public beta today. Every time I go into one of the office applicaitons, I get a window that says "Please wait while windows configures Micrsoft Office Pro Plus 2010. It then goes through some configuration routine. The same thing happens when I exit from a office application. Can anyone tell me how to fix this issue?

I recently installed the Office 2010 32 bit CTP on Windows 7 64 bit RC. While installing I chose "customize" and checked pretty much every checkbox and selected "run all from my computer". I can not seem to find Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) in the list of programs?

For long I thought some day it will be integrated within Word (scan a document right withing word) and I was actually surprised to see MODI missing from start menu hoping it was finally integrated, but it does not seem to be embedded within Word either.

Is MODI discontinued with Office 2010 or is it buried somewhere else?

Office Document Cache error after installing Beta 2

Hi,

I have removed the CTP and installed the beta 2 of office 2010.
and now I'm receiving an office document cache error.
the system prompt me to repair the problem, but this cause a crash of the sharepoint workspace. If I click "not repair" the office document cache interface is displayed with the same message "repair or clear the cache", I'm going into settings and click clear cache and the application crash again...
and I'm not able to save a document in sharepoint through Excel or word.

how to manually clear the cache?
or what can I do?

While I found links to the Outlook Connector inside this forum, there does not seem to be an official web page that presents it, so when will it be officially available? It should be one of the downloads for Technet subscribers. The Connector used in the TP no longer works.

So I received the email stating that the technical preview was ending and that the beta would be available for download this month. However, when I click on the link to go to the connect site, it just says, page not found. It gives me this error code: c8a79994-94d4-4d10-8878-2477b8fa9768 .

The email said I would be forwarded to a site where I could download the beta. Has this just not happened yet? I know the beta was released to TechNet subscribers but I also thought I would be able to get the beta since I participated in the technical preview. Thanks for your time.
