I had read about how having click to run might affect the opening of files. When I went to the control panel to see what versions I had installed this is what I found, in this order
MS Office 2007 Primary Interlop Assemblies 12/14/2011
MS Office Click to Run 10/22/2010
MS Office Home & Student 2010 10/22/2010
MS Office Professional 2010 12/6/2011
MS Office Suite Activation Assistant 10/29/2009
I Obviously don't need to have all of these to run MS Word programs so what should I do?

Hi,
Make sure you have Office installation resource(CD\DVD),you need repair Office after you remove other Office 2010 feature.
For the list that your provided, it recommended contain Office Prefessional 2010.
Office Prefessional 2010 includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher.
Remove following Office program from Control Panel.MS Office 2007 Primary Interlop Assemblies 12/14/2011
MS Office Click to Run 10/22/2010
MS Office Home & Student 2010 10/22/2010
The 2007 Microsoft Office system Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA) redistributable is a Microsoft Windows Installer package that contains the Primary Interop Assemblies for 2007 Microsoft Office system products.MS Office Home & Student 2010 includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote.

Hello,
I agree with what William is saying. Please remove the unnecessary installations and you could just install office 2007/2010. I hope it helps.
