    Hi All,

We upgraded to Office 2010/exchange2010 last year from 2003.

I've noticed that the auto-archive for my PC isn't working.  I've various folders set with specific details, most of them to actually just delete anything over a month old.

Auto-archive can run, and if I run it manually (all-folders) I see the status bar progressing, but nothing gets deleted.

Looking specifically at one folder, I can see its set to Delet after a week.  I've checked the modified dates of the emails in that folder and some go back to 2011

I'm the Exchange admin, and I'm not aware of any settings that have been set to override the client preferences.  Theres no Exchange-level Archiving done (no Enterprise CALs).

I've tried cached/non-cached mode.  I've tried removing and recreating the archive.pst file.

I'll try running it from another PC at some point just to see if its isolated to my PC.

Out of ideas at this point.

    Hello,

Given your situation, you need to check the following point first:

    1. Verify your AutoArchive settings
    2. No Group Policy deny
    3. Install Service Pack 1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2460049

More reference, please see the link blow:

    Hope these help:)

    Hi,

I already have SP1.  Theres no GP deny that I'm aware of (I'm also the domain admin), and when I run this from another PC, the archive settings seem to work.

I cleared my OST file, let it re-sync and the first time I ran Archive it did clear some emails out, but not completely.

Now when I run Archive again, it speeds through all my mailboxes (seems to take only a few seconds total), but doesn't clean them out.

So no - not working :-(

    Hello.

    Sorry for the delay responding.

I notice that you told me that its isolated to your PC. Have you tried to launch Outlook.exe with safe mode? (perform Windows clean boot is also proposed.)

And please also create a new profile for testing. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918

    Thanks.

    Hi Tony,

I think I've found the issue..  A setting way up in the main options settings about AutoArchive.

It seems with that option unclicked, none of the per-folder specific archive settings work.

To make it work I've had to set the defaults to something silly like 60 months, and then work at the individual folder level.

Its odd that the auto-archive options aren't greyed out if that options not ticked (and required), like most other things would be. Its also odd that it partially ran the other day.
