PowerPoint 2010 - 400761 error when trying to open PowerPoint 2007 files
-
Tuesday, March 27, 2012 8:00 PMI have just started receiving an error that states "PowerPoint found content in ***.pptx that it did not understand. This content has been removed and cannot be recovered. You should review this presentation to determine whether any content was unexpectedly changed or removed." When I hit ctrl+shift+I it pops up error code 400761. I have searched extensively for this error code and have not found any hits. This began happening after running automatic updates. The updates that installed today were KB2310138, KB982726, KB2598246, KB2647518, KB2621440, KB890830, KB2639308, KB2665364, KB2667402, KB2641653. I successfully opened the SAME files without receiving the error message before the updates. All of the files were created with PowerPoint 2007.

Hi,
I have checked the KB lists, I notice KB2598246(Description of the Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter update: March 13, 2012) seems uncorrelated update for your Office.
If you have installed previous version of office in the same computer, please complete uninstall test if it helps. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971179)
Note: If you have 3rd-party program work with PowerPoint, such as Aspose.Slides for .NET, please disable it or other add-in test this issue.
If the problem still persists, please refer to following KB article link, if the error match with yours, you can follow the steps to work around this issue:

Best regards.
