Locked Outlook 2013 RTM not syncing Outlook.com contacts

  • Wednesday, October 24, 2012 11:42 PM

I just installed Office 2013 RTM on my Windows 7 PC. Outlook 2013 RTM does not sync my Outlook.com contacts completely (38 out of 300).

Can somebody help me find a solution?

    Thanks.
    E.

Outlook 2013 keeps displaying "Waiting for server response" and "All folders are up to date" every 5 seconds or so... Contacts still not syncing...

In Outlook 2013, you may connect your Outlook.com account with EAS profile.

File > Account Setting > Email Tab > New > Email Account > Manual setup or additional server types  > Exchange ActiveSync

    Mail Server: m.hotmail.com

Then you may check whether everything is fine. Thanks.

That is how I set mine up, I've deleted the account and readded it and it's not syncing my contacts, it only pulled in 5 out 230.

That's my setting. I tried also creating a new profile and/or deleting caches folders but it still wont sync my contacts... This is odd, in Preview this was working fine...

Quick update. If I add twice the same account (having two instances at the same time) more contacts get synced. If I delete the second account and readd it again some more contacts gets synced. Every time I do this process more contacts get synced. This is very strange behavior...

Every email account but my Outlook.com account has a "sync issues" folder, and those folders are empty.

I see what the problem is for me, I have my Google contacts "connected" to my Outlook.com account and it is only those contacts, they show up on the website but they aren't showing up for me in Outlook itself. I think this is a bug and should be fixed but in the mean time I'll just maintain two separate contacts list.

Well, now I can't connect anymore to Outlook.com. Outlook 2013 and the Windows 8 mail app are telling me that I can't connect anymore devices to the account. I have only one device in the list... Can somebody from support reset my EAS sync relationships?

Same problem here, only 5-10 contacts are actually synced.

No idea what else to do, I uninstalled and reinstalled a few times (tried both x86 and x64), same thing.

Would really love a fix for this

Same problem here. Using the RTM version of Office 2013 and an outlook.com email address. Syncs only 17 out of 110 contacts.

Sorry, Office 2013 has just too many bugs...

Please got to Email account setting. If there is hotmail with MAPI exists, please remove it and only leave hotmail with Exchange ActiveSync to check the result.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

Exchange ActiveSync is what I already have. I also deleted the hotmail account in Outlook 2013 and readded it (again only as Exchange ActiveSync) but it still won't sync more than 2 or 3 contacts.

It's working fine with my regular MS exchange account but unfortunately it's not working with my private hotmail account.

    interesting:

when I edit a contact on the online platform or on my phone it syncs with outlook 2013 without any problem. same with adding a new contact.

I was wrong. It's not syncing every edited contact. Just half of those. Don't see why some get synced while others do not.

I have the EXACT same issue with Outlook 2013 RTM.

Only two contacts from Outlook.com could be seen on Outlook 2013.

Yes, the account settings seem to be configured properly.

Any new account I add into Outlook.com (after I configured it in Outlook 2013) seem to sync into Outlook 2013.

    How weird is that?

Same problem here.  Windows 8, Outlook 2013 x64, Hotmail/Outlook.com accounts set up with EAS using m.hotmail.com (one switched itself to blu-m.hotmail.com), and no sync log files in the appropriate folders.  The first account synced 682 contacts, the second (identical) one 930 (I have about 1,500 total).  Interestingly, the same issue happened on a Windows Phone 8 device, so this issue may be related to Outlook.com services and not specific to (the desktop) Office Outlook 2013.

Yesterday, as many of you have already done, I spent all day trying to figure this issue out.  I get 72 out of 600+ contacts synced from my outlook.com account to MS Outlook 2013.  I read many posts but no fix yet.  On October 27, 2012 Diane Poremsky a Community Moderator and always helpful, posted the following response to this issue:

"This is a known problem and Microsoft is working on fixing it. "

This was almost two month ago.  Anybody know if a fix has been made?

Has anybody found a way to make all contacts sync?

I will be contaminating Diane Poremsky on this.  If she can give me some helpful info, I will post it here.

Good luck to all of us and Merry Christmas to all of you...

I am using a Windows 8 (Nokia Lumia) and Outlook 2013. I have several pop account and don't use MS Exchange. I don't have hotmail account.

If your situation is the same, read on.

I had the same disappointing problme with my mobile W8 and Outlook 2013. With Outlook 2013 you don't need the hotmail connector patch. The way I resolved the issue was: 1. I created a live.com or outlook.com (MS Account) with my pop3 e-mail as the user name. 2. I set this account up in my Outlook 2013 - and you can do it through Outlook. You need to close Outlook and go to Control Panel, Open mail and set up new account. When setting this up, make sure that you use your live.com or outlook.com user name and password and for server you can use: m.hotmail.com or blu-m.hotmail.com (the second one worked for me).

    3. Once this account is setup watch this but exclude the hotmail connector install as you dont need it for 2013. The result is sub-optimal, but with some compromise (such as making the outlook.com (your main contact and calendar folder). the link to video: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2459660#survey

I hope Microsoft come to the realisation that this is not a clean solution.

    Cheers.

Another thing I did with contact was that I manually copied them (within outlook 2013 folders - between the main outlook contact folder and outlook.com e-mail/contact folder). I did the same with Calendar (manualy transfered the entries between the two. I know it is rediculous, but till MS realises what they haven't done I don't see any other option.

I hope Microsoft come to the realisation that this is not a clean solution.

    Cheers.
