DirSync capabilities
DirSync capabilities
- I have a client set up with BPOS presently. They have their own Server 2008-based DC and File/Print servers but use BPOS Exchange online. My question is, can DirSync be set up to allow passwords to remain in sync between their AD domain and their accounts on BPOS?
Answers
- Directory Synchronization does not currently support password synchronization between on-premise and BPOS directories; only specific attribute values are synchronized.

- Is there a plan to eventually support this? Keeping both passwords in sync/remembering both passwords when they're out of sync has definitely been an issue for the users and caused numerous additional calls for support.
- Currently no plans to synchronize the passwords.
- I agree in that it would be advantagous to have the passwords sync between AD and Online Services.
Where can we submit this as a feature request? I agree.
This has been one of our biggest issues. Sign in application stores the password, then 90 days later when asked to create a new password, the user can't remember what it was because they created it 3 months ago. Also being able to increase the password expiration would be nice. Users have to update their smart phones to reflect the new passwords as well.- Good point on the passwords, I agree that every 90 days users will forget their passwords if they are not required to enter it in daily, and it will be a pain for mobile devices. Microsoft, please listen and address these basic issues.
