We are getting the same, and we are hosted, did you get this sorted? Ie is it worth opening a ticket, or is this another to add to the list of features that dont work with BPOS.

I would open a ticket.  We have been on BPOS / Exchange Online for months and have not had any issues with the out of office assistant.

    Thanks,

    Jason

I don't know if you're still getting this problem, in case you do, here's how i solved it:

    - This problem was related to the offline address book. It was not downloading from the GAL.
    - renamed the user's ost with another extension
    - deleted all the profiles from the mail icon in control panel
    - reconfigured outlook from within the sign-in application
    - downloaded the GAL to the offline address book. in outlook, click on tools-->send/receive-->download address book...

The Out Of Office assistant now works.
