Any plans for web client access to Standard OCO?

While lots of people want to see the unified communications features trickle down to OCO Ded or even Std, we just want OCO Std web client access.

As an embedded professional services org to many clients, more often than not, we don't get to plug into client networks, and furthermore, usually need to use client workstation devices to be most effective. Thus, Office Communicator R2 client is not feasible.

All the UC gizmos and widgets can wait - we just want web client IM on Std so we can use the service more.

Can't sign in to Communicator

I have problem signing into office communicator for the BPOS account that do not make use of MS Online Services Sign In. I have manually changed communicator sign-in address and some of the advance settings to:

Sign-in address: myname.myfamname.2ndaccount@mycompany.emea.microsoftonline.com (this is my BPOS account user name)

User Name: mycompany.emea.microsoftonline.com\myname.myfamname.2ndaccount

Internal/external server name or IP address: pool1.oconline.microsoftonline.com:443
Connect using: TLS

The error I get is “Can’t sign in to communicator”

Is it necessary to use MS Online Services Sign In?

Are there limits on distribution for BCC? I can get only 20 email addresses for addresses outside our company's server. I am not limited at 20 for addresses contained in our company's server.

In a single file in excel 2003, I have linked two sheets and that was working finely but from last few it is not working when i click the link it shows a message " The operation s has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator"

I have tried it again by removing the hyperlink and again creating the same but thats of no use. tried in another file also but its not working.

What is the remedy?

Office Communicator without Office Communications Server

Can you use Office Communicator without an Office Communications Server? The information on the website seems to infer you can but I can't figure out how to do it. I want to test it out with one of my colleagues in another country as an alternative to skype. Realistically I'd just like to be able to trial it without commissioning a trial OCS.

Contact List in Communicator for All Employees

We recently installed OCS 2007 R2 and are now ready to distribute office communicator to all our employees. We would like to also be able to distribute a pre-built contact list so that all our employees have the same necessary contacts. I've looked online and I have yet to find any way to do this. Any ideas? Thanks.

No confirmation prompt when “save as” a word document on the same location as an existing document with the same name?

I don’t get a confirmation prompt when saving a word document in the same location as an existing document with the same name. Using another office application ex: excel, power point etc... I get the prompt to overwrite the file or not. The issue is consistent with both office 2003 and 2007 and it doesn’t matter which windows OS your using.

Any help will be really appreciated.

We're checking out Microsoft Online Services and have enabled Office Communications Online. After downloading and installing OC 2007 R2, when I try to sign in I get this error: "There was a problem verifying the certificate from the server. Please contact your system administrator."

We're not having issues with any of the other services. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello:

we are trialing BPOS and have everything configured, but are now trying to configure Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile 2007 R2 on sever Windows Mobile 6.0 phones. the install works fine, but then when trying to connect to the server, we are stuck on the domain\username entry. We have put in our "sign-in address" (e.g. testuser@company.microsoftonline.com) and have put in the manual entries for the server names (e.g. pool1.oconline.microsoftonline.com:443). we cannot get past the domain\username to sign in. Have tried company.microsoftonline.com\testuser etc... but no combination works.

Is OCM 2007 R2 supported for BPOS??? (Seriously hoping yes).

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to connect to our Corporate account, but with no success. I've tried the following:

connecting to host pool1.oconline.microsoftonline.com:443 using TLS. Correct?

What account-Id should I use for microsoft online if email address is john.doe@acme.com ?

Multiple Communicators running simultaneously?

I'm presently working with two different organizations, both using BPOS. I'd like to have two instances of Communicator running side-by-side, so I can be in contact with both organizations. Is this possible?

A workaround I thought of is to use Communicator Web Access, but I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere in the BPOS world. Is CWA available within BPOS?

My company has recently upgraded our office communicator client from 2003 to 2007 r2; and one of the biggest complaints I hear is when someone logs into another machine, it automatically signs them out of all other sessions forcing them to only be signed into one machine at a time.

A lot of users have Communicator sign in upon windows log-in so we see a lot of people going on and off-line. Is it possible to set office communicator 2007 R2 to allow simultaneous sessions to be active for the same user?

I have two OCS R2 Pools deployed on two of my office branches, both in different geographical locations and hosting around 4500 users each.

Can I have one of the pools decommisioned and install a new front-end in its place added to the other existing pool without a load balancer?

Nortel IP Phone connection issue

Hi all,

We received last week our Nortel IP Phones for our OCS deployment. Now I am deploying the phones in our envorienment. I have a issue while logging in to the phone.
This is how the phone boots

- OCS phone edition boot logo
- aquiring ip adress
- configuring NTP
- Connecting to Communications Server
- Authentication completed, retrieving user information

At the last step it went stuck, the unit displays the line for what 5 minutes and then reboots and loops in the same sequense.
I think it has to do with the certificate or Device update Service but the device has the most recent firmware installed and authentication is completed.
We do not get errors on the Front end Server, we are riunning a standard pool edition with RCC Voice deployment primarly Cisco IPT, some will use Enterprise Voice, also for this user account which is logging in to this device.

Communicator won't sync address book during trial of OCS

I am using the trial period of the MS ONLINE service of Communications Server and right now just using the communicator and Outlook part for IM/Presence testing.

I can log into Communicator but it will not sync the address book in Outlook using the xxxxx.microsoftonline.com account that is resideing on my local pc. So i can't import the 5 other test accounts that do show up in the address book.

Communicator on Citrix / XPEmbedded???

Text change after insert / delete row

I need to create (using excel 2007) a column containing a special id pattern : test01,test02,..... and so on. what is the best way this column get modified after every insert/delete rows. That's to say, if i include a new row between test01 and test02, i want the new row to initialize to test02 and the one after becomes test03 and so on for the following cells to be incrementing.

Account creation delay?

Is there a delay of several hours+ between creating a user account through the web admin portal and it being activated on the OCO servers. I added a test user this morning, he has no problem connecting to Exchange, but OCO keeps saying that his account isn't recognised. He has gone through the right steps with the single sign on client to configure his Communicator client. Also, if I look up the user with my Communicator client, it can't find him but he is in the GAL.

Office Communicator 2007 problem

Created a user in Active Directory then Synchronized with Microsoftonline then the user had a name change. i Updated the user information in Active Directory then ran The Synchronization tool again for Microsoft online all credentials uploaded to the cloud except for that when the user tryes to log in to Communicator it says the new user name is invalid I tried to manually change it in Communicator but it still tries to default to the old user name. I like to know if anyone else has come across this issue any help would be appreciated.

Unable to see the header in outlook 2003 email when printing. It only happens in some email but not all.

Unable to answer telephone call when ringing

When somebody calls my communicator number via telephone, I do not get the popup window that will allow me to answer the call. I can hear the ring sounds through my audio device and the communicator icon in the system try shows a scrolling message icon over it, but there is no dialog to answer the call.

Any help would be appriciated.

Making OCO a Killer App

BPOS is a great proposition and we've got a lot of customers interested in it & some signed up. The only real weakness for me is lack of federation to public messaging (specifically msn) and lack of VOIP when used over internet connections. This does rather cripple OCO for smaller clients and they end up running OCO + Messenger. Its also not easy to position OCO as a paid-for product that doesnt deliver voice when Live Messenger already does

If MS can get OCO up to the standard of OCS (VOIP, Telephony & federation) this would be a phenomenal proposition & could certainly be sold at a higher price in my opinion. Any comments on when/if?

I am using NAV 5.0. With the office communicator automation variable i am able to open Instant messenger window. but i am not able to open conversation window, for that i had used IMessengerAdvanced class. upon calling create(IMsgAdv); iam getting error as

"could not create an instance of the OLE control or Automation server identified by GUID={ } 1.0:{ } : 'Microsoft office communicator 2007 API Type Library'.IMessengerAdvanced.

Check that the Ole Controlor Automation server is correctly installed and registered"

But Methods and properties of classes Messenger and IMessengerContact works fine. how to solve it??

Hi,

After a trial, we decided to subscribe to BPOS for all of our users, with a full migration of Exchange from SBS 2003.

Everything works, except OCO. we configured Office Communicator using the sign-in application; we then launch from the same and get an error message saying that the connection address is wrong. When I use the mail address given during the trial though (I was the only user during the trial), it does connect – but then signals an “Outlook integration” error, which makes sense since we use our own domain name now that we subscribe to the service (including of course in Outlook). It seems to me that the OC service/server got stuck with the old trial settings, and I don’t know where to upgrade them with the new domain name (not in the admin console, where all I found was an option to enable – which I did of course – or stop the service).

Any feedback much appreciated

Is there any way to see who's logged in to a particular response group and what their status is? For instance, as a response group manager, i'd like to know in real time if somebody is at least logged in to take calls, and ideally what their presence is (in a call, busy, away, etc.)

1. how can be used Exchange Hosted Archiving to archive IM from OCS online? (the brochure says: a variety of Instant Message solutions and Bloomberg messaging are compatible with EHA so that IM conversations can also be archived)

2 Comments/Questions:

1 -- It would be nice to see a comparison of what features you dont have access to if you move to Microsoft Online for Exchange, Sharepoint, etc.

2 -- An ETA for at least a beta for Office Communications Server Online. Really interested in the service, but I'm not sure how long I might need to wait. I see its already available for dedicated customers (>5K seats), but its coming soon for us standard folks (<5K seats).

flaws in the compatability pack in Office 2007 for Office 2008

The compatibility pack does not allow Office 2007 to read any files in Office 2008 saved as 1997-2004 files.
It allows eg .pptx files to be read but substitutes a default font for the one used. This is unacceptable in a .pptx file.
Could you develop a better compatibility pack?
