About half of my agensts are getting the dreaded http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=978360 WMI error.
Why did this obnoxious error carry into 2012?
The Operations Manager Server could not execute WMI
Query "Select * from Win32_Environment where NAME='PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE'" on
computer scom2016.billg.com.
Operation: Agent Install
Install account: billg\svcops
Error Code: 80004005
Error Description: Unspecified error

Hi Julia,
What is the Agents OS version?!
Check out this KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950681
On a Windows Server 2003-based computer, the Win32_Environment WMI class does not return the value of the PATH environment variable if the variable contains more than 1,024 characters
Additionaly, this blog post could help you troubleshooting other Agents Deployment issues

Mazen's reply appears correct to me.
In addition forward, the error still happens in 2012 because it is a WMI/Windows issue, not an OpsMgr one. We simply *use* WMI.... and if WMI is broken, we can't carry on...
