Hi,
I'm going to rebuild my SCOM 2007 R2. SCOM DB is in Seperate server and i want all configuration and settings same as the old scom like MPs, overrides, Monitors, Rule and other configurations. Will it work fine if i backup the MPs from old MG and restore to new MG?What process im going to follow? and also i have Gateway server, how do i move GW server to my new RMS and MG?
Thank you.

Most things would be carried over just find, there are a couple of things which wont. Some configuration stuff (notification, most settings of the admin space) must be recreated. Also keep in mind that MPs with group members or overrides based on machines would not work anymore because their instance GUID is referenced and when you recreate your MG those GUIDs will be different. If your groups are based on some criteria, it will be good. Gateway servers and management servers must be re-installed and must point to the new management group. Agents as well.
Hope this helps.

Hi Expert,
Thank you for the response.
Is it the same thing if i rebuild it in the same Management Group name?

Thank you. what is the effort to build a new scom as 500 servers are being monitored including the agents reporting to GW server?

Hi Expert,
So, MPs need to be re-imported and overrides need to be recreated? it's pretty much heavy and it takes time, isn't?

Yes it is heavy.
If you plan for a complete new install from scratch, you also need to take care so that the old agents do not interfere with the new ones.
