AnswerAutomatic Maintenance Mode for Virtual Servers

    Hi All,

I have a SCOM 2007 SP1 implementation with several Server 2008 Hyper-V servers.  Currently I have agents deployed to the Hyper-V servers, and each virtual server.   This works fine for what I need to do, until I want to deal with maintenance mode.

What I am looking for is a way to put the Hyper-V server into maintenance mode, which would automatically put all the virtual servers that are part of that hose into maintenance mode.  Right now I have to do them all by hand.   Is this possible?  Sure I could write a script, but I was wondering if there is an add-on that would have this functionality?

I have seen the Hyper-V MP but did not see anywhere in the details that would signal the ability to do what I am looking for.  Or perhaps I misread it.      Has anyone had experience with this?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

You would need to group them all together - then put that group into MM.

There is no containment relationship between the host and all hosted VM's - for good reason.... that would impact other things.
