Grooming databases - dwdatarp.exe & 2012

I have read several items that asked the question along with others but this part never got answered directly that I noticed.
Is dwdatarp.exe still current with SCM2012? In addition when I run it to just collect the data it does not seem to quite match with what I find under
ADMIN—SETTINGS—Database Grooming. Are they complimentary?
I have been unable to find any doc that talks about them as one unified whole - managing the size of SQL dataset so this collection of data does not become a monster.

As far I know this tool works for SCOM 2012.
In SCOM you have 2 Databases OperationsManager and OperationsManagerDW (Datawarhouse). The Settings under ADMIN—SETTINGS—Database Grooming apply to the Operations Manager DB and the dwdatarp.exe tool is formodifying the Retention time in the Operations Manager Datawarehouse (OperationsManagerDW) http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2010/01/05/understanding-and-modifying-data-warehouse-retention-and-grooming.aspx.
