    Hello,

We are in the process of deploying Office 2010 - specifically Outlook 2010 - and we are seeing an issue when using the Reply with Meeting option.   If you open a message and then click on the button for "Reply with meeting" we receive an error message and on occassion the entire message will close.   The error is:

"Could not complete the operation.  One or more parameters is invalid"

The error shows up as a notification bubble on the Outlook Icon in the systray.

This issue only occurs if we have the Outlook option "Close original message when reply or forward" is enabled.  If we uncheck this option, the issue no longer occurs.

This issue also does not happen if you click on the "Reply with Meeting" button on the ribbon bar when the message is NOT open and just in the message list like the inbox.   It only occurs when you open the message and then click on the "Reply with meeting" button.

I was curious if anyone has run into this issue and if anyone has any suggestions to resolve this issue.   This issue is occuring on Windows 7 64 bit with Office 2010 32bit specifically Outlook 2010 version 14.0.6012.1000

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I cannot repro that issue here. can you repro this in Outlook Safe Mode?

    Start-> type; outlook.exe /safe
(note the space in the command above)

If it works now, the issue is most likely caused by an add-in that you have installed. To troubleshoot, disable them all and then enable them 1-by-1 (restarting Outlook each time) to find the culprit.

Also note that you do not have all the latest updates applied yet.

    Thanks for the reply.

I started Outlook in safe mode and the issue still occurs.  This system is pretty flat.  I installed Windows 7 64, Symantec Endpoint Protection, and Office 2010 x86.   Since I knew this issue exisited with all of the other applications we have loaded, I wanted to try it with just the basics and the issue is still there.

I will try to update the system 100% on all Microsoft updates and retest.   I will repost when completed.

I have applied all available updates from Microsoft from Microsoft Update.   Retested this issue and it still occurs.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hi

Thank you for your reply.   I actually called Microsoft support and have an open case number 112050773441414.  Unfortunately I think I am at first level support and they are not having any luck finding a solution.

Thanks for any help you can provide.   Let me know if you need more information

    Hello,

Closing the loop on this issue.

The description of the issue provided appears to match an issue that has previously been reported & unfortunately due to the scope of the change required to address it, there is no fix planned for Outlook 2010.  The decision has been made to address this issue in a future release of the product.  As it stands currently, the only workaround to avoid seeing this error message (bubble) is to disable the "Close original message when reply or forward" option.  Even with this option selected, there is no feature imparement, only the error message displayed to the end-user.

If you believe you have additional details, or a different scenario than the one presented here, and would like it investigated, please open a serivce request with Microsoft support & reference this forum post.
