outlook 2010, exchange 2007 sp2, windows 7 sp1
recently upgraded from office 2007 to office 2010 professional plus. before in outlook 2007, i can lookup a recipients "Alias" field by going thru the properties. now with outlook 2010, if the mouse hovers over the recipient name i get a box displaying some information but NOT the "Alias" field.
this "Alias" field which can be seen/managed from ADUC contains employee IDs so with previous outlook version it was really helpful looking up such information.
question is, how to get back this "Alias" field in outlook lookup?

Hi,
If the information fields don’t show in GAL, it seems to be more related to the host end. You can refer to the following blog post to have a check on the settings:

And
The Contact Card in Outlook 2010 does not change when you try to customize it by using Group Policy or the Office Customization Tool (OCT).

hi,
thanks for the reply. i'm afraid i missed a few descriptions. what i mean is if create a new email in Outlook 2007, in the To: field, if i hover the mouse over the recipient it shows the "Alias" field which contains the employee ID. the "Alias" field is present in ADUC (2003 domain).
with outlook 2010, if i create a new email, hover the mouse over the recipient list, it only shows some info like phone extension number, Work phone, Mobile phone, Department, etc., but not the employee ID (which is stored in the "Alias" field of ADUC).
can i edit this new popup to show more information?

Hi,
The settings of the contact card should be handled by the Group Policy. But it seems Group Policy files do not contain the correct registry settings to customize the Contact Card settings under the Contact Tab section. We may try the workaround mentioned in the second article in my previous post. The method explains how to create the registry keys to display the specified fields on the Contact Card. For example, we may replace the Department field with EmployeeNumber field by creating the following regsitry key:
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Value: AliasDWORD: TurnOnContactTabMAPIReplace1

i followed the second article since i want to test it first from my PC.
so i created a registry key,
Computer/HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Policies/Microsoft/Office/14.0/Common/Contact Card
note: my original key stops at Computer/HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Policies/Microsoft
and in the "Contact Card" i created,
String: TurnOnContactTabLabelReplace5
Value: AliasDWORD: TurnOnContactTabMAPIReplace5
Value: 8c67001fand then rebooted. nothing.
since what i need is the "Alias" field, i edited the registry again and use the value 3a00001f for TurnOnContactTabMAPIReplace1 and then rebooted. nothing. i'm expecting the 5th line to be replaced with the word Alias and with the value of the employee ID taken from ADUC.
is there anything i may have missed?

I created the same regsitry keys and it shows properly, see the following screenshots:
What's your Outlook additional version? I have patched the program to this: Microsoft Outlook 2010 (14.0.6117.5001) SP1 MSO (14.0.6112.5000)

Microsoft Outlook 2010 (14.0.6025.1000) SP1 MSO (14.0.6023.1000)
is my additional version and still nothing changed.
do i need to make sure that group policy also have the same set of keys or editing my local registry first is enough?

The Contact Card in Outlook 2010 does not change when you try to customize it by using Group Policy or the Office Customization Tool (OCT).
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981022i tried but couldn't get the "Contact Tab" to show the same values shown in Contact card using OCT OCT image.
i also downloaded Office 2010 admin templates but when i checked the "Office2010GroupPolicyAndOCTSettings_Reference.xls" that comes with it but it doesn't list the same values being shown in Contact Card using OCT . i might be missing something but i don't know what.
my Outlook additional version is Microsoft Outlook 2010 (14.0.6025.1000) SP1 MSO (14.0.6023.1000)
