Microsoft should bring it back.

PPS provides the scorecarding and analytical capabilites. You can define your KPIs and organize them in a scorecard which is then linked to a strategy map for your organization. The analytical capabilities are the big piece which allow you to drilldown into the data looking at the anomalies in the data. You also have the ability to cross-drill into other dimensions (geography, accounts, customers, products, employees, etc.) that are setup in your SSAS database.
You can easily provide a dashboard of key pieces of information and enable your users to be able to filter the content, ask additional questions, and answer these questions without having to request additional reports, charts, etc. As long as the data is available they can slice-and-dice the information as they please.
