    Hi

        Sir I have got a stand alone server containing projectserver 2007 ,sql 2008....

    And in my PWA instance i want the hierarchical approach for the users and also the projects in it departmental wise

    i.e     Each department Program manager must be able to create new projects and assign it to his team members where he and his team is suppose to see only his projects 

    And at the higher level that is the PD is able to see only his master projects which includes  all the departmental projects as sub projects in his master projects and only the program managers of various departments as the team members in his resource center .....

     So please let me know how is it to go about it .Do i have to give values for the default  Look up table present ...if so tel me the steps and how to include it in my senario...

    And also will i have to create a department look up table and if yes tel me clearly how to do so and how does it help my organizations need ...

    please i need the solution ergently

    Hi AB,

    RBS:

    I would start to use the RBS Enterprise field. Just start populating the RBS value list with the hierarchical structure of your company: (The example contains 3 levels)

    • Devision1
    •   Dept1
    •     Sub-dept1
    •     Sub-dept2
    •   Dept2
    •     ...
    • Devision2
    •   ...

    Assign all your resources to their corresponding RBS-value

    IN your categories, use the RBS-realated settings to setup the visibility of the projects that can be seen. (as similar concept exists foto set up the visibility of resources)


    Departments:

    • You should use to make a distinction between enterprice fields for the different departments (which department can use which fields)
    • You can define a department for your resources
    • You can use the department field as a "filter" in many places

    The "Departments" fields and the RBS are 2 independent concepts! Just try it out ;)
