    Hello,

I am working in MSProject 2007 Standard SP2 and I have a problem that I can't figure out.

Frequently, the schedule will not auto calculate when updating linkages.  I adjust linkages to tasks and the successors do not update. It gives the sympthoms of being in manual calculation mode.  When I check the calculation it's always set to automatic.

The only way I can get it to calculate is preses the F9 key or select "Calculate Now" button it calculates and updates perfectly.

Does anyone else have this problem of not automatically calculating when it's sete to Automatic?

    Thank you,

    Hi Sannas1,

Is this file originally saved in Project 2010? as in 2010 only you have option of manual scheduling. Do you have SP2 for Project 2007?

Pls try this: save as the file with a different name, close Project and reboot the machine, then open the new file and test calculation mode.

    Thanks Sapna,

The file was never in Project 2010, we don't have that version.  We only have MSProject 2007 and it is SP2.

    Thanks MCC,

I tried this, and it works as well as hitting the F9 button.  After forcing the calculation it will auto calc for a while.  Then it stops and I have to hit F9 (or hit the calc now button).  I keep checking to ensure that the options are set to auto calculate and they always are.  I suppose this is another round of "it does it because it's MSProject".  :-)

    Thank you,

    Hello Sannas1

I have seen this occur when the percent complete contains a number greater than zero.  Try zeroing out the percent complete and then put it back in.  You should see the change.
