Forum UX

If I enter the forums via the alert to a forum post, I get one view (typically the Microsoft forum UX).
If I enter the forums from the direct url by bingling on the forum name I get the Windows 8 metro view.
The abrupt style changes each time I enter the forums is a bit offputting. Is there a way I can get the SAME view? Heck I'll take the metro view as long as it's consistent (even if the metro view has too big and too gray of fonts). It just is jarring to constantly get different views to the exact same urls depending on how I enter the forum?

If I try to insert a post between people's postings, it hangs and shows the icon of the poster below where I am trying to post. If I flip over to the msdn format, it works. Stay on technet and it won't let me post.

What's the specific issue here? Is it just the TechNet formatting (the Win 8 metro view)?
Here's the trick that works now: remove "technet." from the URL. That gives you the Microsoft branding/style.
Note that it works currently.

The specific issue is that it's a tad jarring to come into the forums and get a different view depending on how you enter.
I have a parked domain that gets me straight into the forum no matter what browser I use (www.sbsforum.info) Technet view
If I come in here via a forum alert from the SBS forum I get the technet view.
If I come in here via a forum alert from the reportabug forum, I get the Microsoft view.
If I bingle I may hit any of the views.
Could there be a cookie tracking option so that you could set YOUR view and then no matter what url you hit just get that view?

Regarding the feature to set your own view... This is a great feature idea. It's by design, so this is more of a feature than a bug fix. It would have to be vetted against the different branding teams, but it's worth it.
Please add it as a thread to the Suggestion forum and add it to the Feature Request Wiki article. Thanks!

You guys don't do connect bugs 'eh? :-)
Just so I'm clear you mean http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/suggest/threads and
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/2695.wiki-feature-requests.aspx ?

No. Currently this forum is it. That's not a bad idea though (Connect support). It's a feature request in itself. =^)
But if we did Connect bugs, I think most of the forum answers here would be "Submit to Connect" -- Or maybe we would just shut down this forum and the Suggestions one.
Regarding your questions...
Yes for the forum.
For the Wiki article, I meant this one: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4703.feature-requests-for-technet-and-msdn-profiles-and-social-platform-tools.aspx#Forums

I used to not be able to post a reply between other posts, only at the end. This is a test to see if I can now reply in the middle. Seems to work OK now for me (I'm posting after Susan's second post, the one dated Feb 16, 2:10 am).
